Actuarial Club Officer Elections 2023

It is time for one of the most anticipated events of the year - Annual Club Officer Elections!  This is your chance to take on a leadership position and contribute to the success of one of the largest student organizations in the business school. Officer elections will be held on Thursday, April 20th from 5:30-6:30 PM in Grainger 2120.

Election eligibility and requirements

  • Candidate must be a dues-paying member for the year 2022-2023

  • Candidate must be on-campus for the entire 2023-2024 academic year. Each officer position is a year-long commitment. Members studying abroad, going for full-time internships roles during the semester or taking the semester off for any reason are not eligible to run.

  • Candidate must fill out the Candidacy Form

  • Election eligibility will remain the same: candidates can run for the Presidential role (if eligible*) and up to two Vice President roles

*In order to be eligible to run for president, the candidate must have been a dues-paying member of the club for at least 3 semesters (current semester included). Prior leadership experience within the club or another student organization is highly recommended.

Officer Position Descriptions & Duties

Click HERE to read about each officer position, duties, speech ideas and runoff questions!

Election Process

The candidates running for President will give a 1.5 minute speech. The candidates running for Vice President positions will give a 1 minute speech. If no absolute majority is reached, the top 2 candidates will each give a 30-second speech, on the topic of a pre-set run-off question. These questions could be found in the official description document.

The order of voting for positions are:

President --> Marketing --> Education Enrichment --> Communication --> Engagement --> Finance

As for the order of the speeches, we will have you randomly draw a number from a box that will indicate your speech order.

This year, we are introducing a new position - the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)! This position will not be chosen during the elections on April 20. Once candidates declare their intent to run for VP of DEI, the current DEI Committee (Dayne Lassiter, Caleb Ng'etich and Paul Johnson) will reach out individually to candidates to schedule coffee chats on April 19 to elect the inaugural VP of DEI. Note: The deadline to apply for the VP of DEI is 11:59pm on Monday, April 17

Website Campaigns

In the past years, candidates have posted their ideas and suggestions for the club on a designated Elections Facebook page. However, this year we have decided to shift this campaign from Facebook over to the Actuarial Club website! Therefore, we highly encourage all candidates to email your campaign ideas and self-introductions to Lauren Hartig (lmhartig@wisc.edu) to post on the Actuarial Club’s Website before April 18th.

In the email, please include the following items to be posted on the website
